Underfloor and Subfloor Drying
Water can remain beneath a floor after the surface has been wiped, extracted or appears dry. It may be retained in underlay, insulation, screed, timber, floor voids or the interface between layers.
My HomeDry assesses the floor construction and moisture pattern before recommending targeted drying, lifting selected finishes, creating access points or removing materials that cannot reasonably be retained.
Floor construction changes the solution
A suspended timber floor, concrete slab, floating laminate system and insulated screed require different investigation and drying methods. The visible finish does not reveal the full construction.
Targeted access versus lifting the floor
Small access points or edge access may be sufficient in some systems. Other incidents require lifting finishes, underlay or boards where contamination, swelling or trapped moisture prevents effective drying.
Reinstatement readiness
New flooring should not be installed until the relevant substrate has been assessed against suitable comparative or material-specific requirements. Covering a damp layer can trap moisture and damage the replacement finish.
