Water Damage Reinstatement

Reinstatement is the repair phase after the affected structure has reached an appropriate condition for the agreed work. It may include plaster repairs, joinery, floor finishes and redecoration, but it should not begin simply because the surface looks dry.

My HomeDry can coordinate or provide reinstatement only where the specific trades and scope have been confirmed. Drying, repair and insurance authority should remain clearly separated.

The dry-before-repair rule

Wet substrates should not be sealed beneath new plaster, flooring, decoration or fitted units. The relevant monitoring and comparative information should support the decision to proceed.

Typical repair scope

A scope may include replacing removed plasterboard, repairing plaster, renewing damaged trim, reinstalling flooring and redecorating. Structural, electrical, gas, specialist flooring or hazardous-material work may require separate contractors.

Insurance and private work

The repair scope should state who has authorised it, what is included, whether VAT applies and who is responsible for payment. Insurance approval is not assumed.

After drying

Repairs planned around the confirmed condition of the building

Reinstatement may include ceiling tiles, wall repairs, skirtings, floor finishes and decoration according to the agreed scope. Drying and repair are separate stages and should be planned in the correct order.
